Following the completion of the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, the United States Olympic Committee had a surplus of revenue that was acquired through the hosting of the LA Olympics and generously granted each sport a gift of $1 million. The USA Field Hockey Foundation was established in 1985 and through sound investing by the foundation board over the last three decades, this gift nearly doubled as USA Field Hockey continues to benefit yearly from the endowment yield.
The Foundation was successfully re-structured to a Board of Trustee model in 2013. Led by former USA Field Hockey’s Director of Development, Meagan Connolly, five charter Trustees set the tone for today’s efforts. Since it’s inauguration, the Foundation has grown by three Trustees with plans to strengthen efforts by strategically growing the team in the years to come. To learn more about the team, click here. In November 2016, the Foundation hired Elissa Unger as Foundation Development Director to oversee all strategic planning, implementation, and management of fundraising programs and events.
The Foundation Trustees are committed to acting as advocates for USA Field Hockey and assisting with strategies and initiatives to increase revenue streams, grow the endowment and generate annual revenue. The Foundation looks to grow in the years to come by bringing in talented and diverse individuals with a passion for moving the sport of field hockey forward.
